'The Vampire Diaries' at Comic-Con: Abs, Wolves and Season 2

If you thought the Vampire Diaries panel at Comic-Con would become a debate over Ian Somerhalder vs. Paul Wesley, you're only partially right.

The cast and producers of The Vampire Diaries also gave details on season 2, including the return of Katherine, Jeremy's fate and Tyler Lockwood's big secret.

-Jeremy will wake up from his pill-popping cliffhanger at the start of season 2, though producers wouldn't reveal if he comes back human or vampire.

-Mayor Lockwood may be dead, but his wife, the one who was all-too-eager to flirt with Damon, will take over the town of Mystic Falls.

-Confirming what people who follow the books already know, executive producer Kevin Williamson did say that we will see a transformation this season with Tyler Lockwood, who is a werewolf. However, they will definitely try to avoid making it corny or too similar to other werewolves like Alcide on True Blood or Jacob in Twilight.

-The stars like the flashbacks, and Paul Wesley even suggested an '80s flashback to see him and Lexi dancing to bad music. The executive producers promised that flashbacks will continue to be a big part of the story.

-The producers give the honors of best hair and best abs to Paul Wesley. However, on the topic of which Salvatore is the better kisser, star Nina Dobrev wouldn't say. The luckiest girl on TV doesn't kiss and tell.

-Additionally, a video preview for season 2 was shown that featured Katherine (or Elena) choking Bonnie, Stefan choking Katherine (or Elena), Katherine (or Elena) stabbing Stefan and Damon telling Stefan that he kissed Elena (but he really kissed Katherine). Clearly season 2 is going to have some very complicated issues to work out with separating Katherine and Elena's actions.

The Vampire Diaries returns September 9 in the US and in January 2011 in the UK.

Torchwood Series 4 News

Torchwood made the headlines with some updates for the new series that will begin production in the USA just after the New Year.

Showrunner Russell T Davies said that the show would be darker:

"Actually, this story is also very dark. I think with that, Torchwood found its feet. People found something very compelling and very chilling about it. I love the way people got on their high horse saying, ‘Oh, he killed his grandson!’ Hello! He saved every single child in the world! If you would fail to do that then you’re the monster, frankly. It’s this extraordinary treatment that only science fiction heroes get You find that. If ever a word is said out of place by the Doctor or Captain Jack, or even by Sarah Jane sometimes, people throw their hands up in horror, whereas in any other drama any character is capable of any thing at any time. That’s the only way to write, and it’s the same for these people as well. I thought it was fascinating and challenging what he did there, but hard—it was so hard. I do think with the whole of Children Of Earth we found a new heartland for Torchwood"

Doctor Who fans get another 13 episodes in 2011

Doctor Who fans will be treated to another 13 episodes next year.

A spokesman confirmed the sixth series would be the same length as previous runs of the new version.

Steven Moffat, who took over from Russell T Davies as main writer and executive producer, says he will write five of the episodes plus the Christmas special for Matt Smith's second run as the Time Lord.

Moffat explained he had continued to follow the writing schedule of his former boss.

"Having worked out how Russell does it, I thought that's a perfect way of doing it," he said But he admitted he was struggling to balance his workload between Doctor Who and producing new BBC drama Sherlock.

"The last year has been extraordinary. I've had about four days off, and that includes Christmas day," he added.
